About
Welcome! My name is Tobi Aliyah. I am an artist native to Baltimore, MD and am currently pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts in Cinema and Television Directing at Columbia College Chicago. My mission as an artist is to create films that authentically represent blackness by dispelling stereotypes. Some of my past works include writing and producing the original mini-series TAJ Chronicles. Directing and Producing the short film “Never A Slave,” and working as the Assistant Director and Videographer for the Maryland Department of Health “stop vaping” infomercial, just to name a few!
I’m currently available for consulting engagements in Baltimore & Chicago.
Being a Multi-Faceted Artist
“What do you do?” Is a question I’m often asked. The easy answer is to say, “I’m a creator.” Entangled in this statement lies so many things. Writing, directing, acting, producing, videography, and video editing. I’m not just one thing and neither are you! But what’s most important to know about me is that I’m an artist who brings stories to life, whatever form that might take. In this video I share what it means to be a multi-faceted artist. It was submitted for a video editing internship while in college. It’s safe to say…I got that internship!
